Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil

What it is:A luminous 100% pure bareMinerals finishing powder for the face. What it is formulated to do:For the ultimate, translucent “finishing touch” to your makeup, Mineral Veil melts into your skin, infusing it with softness and light, giving the look you see with a soft focus camera lens. Buff on Mineral Veil over bareMinerals Foundation to lend extra staying power. What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens- Sulfates- Synthetic Fragrances- Synthetic Dyes- Petro-Chemicals- PhthalatesWhat else you need to know:Completely sheer and ideal for all skin tones, Mineral Veil gently absorbs oil and minimizes the appearance of lines and pores without the buildup of pressed or loose powders that contain parabens, waxes, dyes and binders.Best of Sephora Winner 2008.

I don’t know how I ever lived without this stuff, truly. I own and love two shades of mineral veil: the Feather Light “luminous” shade and the sheer Mineral Veil. Each has its advantages.

As I have pretty good skin, I use my BE foundation just to conceal under-eye circles, but I use the sheer mineral veil as an all-over face powder. It evens out my skin tone beautifully, with no cakey powder build-up. (Those who claim that this dries out their skin, looks masky or cakey are probably using the product incorrectly). This makes my skin look utterly flawless, and is a nice adjunct to the Bare Minerals foundation.

The luminous featherweight formula is also great. It has a subtle luminessence that the regular mineral veil does not. This luminosity may not be for everyone or every occasion, but the mica that gives off the radiance is VERY finely ground, so light bounces off the skin, without making it look sparkly. Note however that I have very fair skin, and on those with darker skintones what simply looks luminous on me may look sparkly on others.

I have also tried the Bare Escentuals Foundation and Mineral Veil on my mother, who has a very ruddy complexion. It evened out most or all of her redness and really made her skin look flawless.

The other great thing about this make-up is that it feels wonderful on your skin. If you have oily skin, this really soaks that up and makes your skin feel very clean. This is also good to use in tandem with BE’s foundation if you need to cover a blemish. I have fair skin so if I ever get a pimple, it REALLY stands out, but these two products make it look as though it doesn’t exist. Also if you have drier skin as I usually do (except in summer) this won’t exacerbate the problem.

Highly recommended as a great price value and all around perfecting powder. If I were trapped on a desert island and could only take one beauty product, this would be it!

How to Pull Off Celebrity Bangs

Go Casual

A-listers like Jennifer Aniston and Katie Holmes aren’t the only ones who look great with bangs. Adding fringe around the face can help highlight favorite face features while hiding others, says Julien Farel, stylist and owner of a salon on Madison Avenue in New York. “Bangs are an accessory to soften the imperfections of the face,” explains Farel who has worked with Salma Hayek and Kate Moss. Still not sure if bangs will compliment your look? Maybe these stars will inspire you.

Bangs don’t need to be high maintenance. For an easy-to-wear look, take Jennifer Aniston’s lead and wear bangs with a glamorous-yet-messy ponytail, which compliments almost any face shape. Another reason to love it? There’s no blow dryer involved.

Busy Mom

Katie Holmes and daughter Suri love their easy-to-handle bobs. But keep in mind, this type of low-maintenance cut accentuates the cheeks, so if your face is round, opt for longer layers around the face.

Swept Aside

Longer side-swept bangs like Julia Roberts’ can help soften an angular face. Channel the pretty woman and gather hair into an effortless bun for a night out, or leave hair down for a more casual look.

Wispy and Girly

If you’re not ready to commit to bangs, Reese Witherspoon’s wispy option may be a good start. They are thin enough to be mixed into longer hair with a dollop of gel but help highlight the face if worn down.

Go Glam

Who says bangs must be worn down at all times? Pinned up bangs flatter those with a rounder face shape. Take a hint from Natalie Portman whose voluminous bangs highlight her features for the red carpet.

Comfortable Fringe

If you’re looking to accentuate the face, part bangs in the middle like Jessica Alba. Perfect for longer or oval face shapes, the fringe highlights favorite features but isn’t a distraction by getting too close to the eyes.

Chocolate

Should Women Fear Chocolate?

Women on a diet or women who are conscious of their weight and figure always display a certain fear of chocolate. They avoid it like plague, thinking that the sugar and the calories that chocolate contains will make their diet and weight-loss plans go haywire. And yet, when things go wrong and they are feeling down, they go and raid the fridge and gobble on as much chocolate as they can. When these women come to their senses later on, they feel horribly guilty and try to burn the sugar and calories gained from the binge.

Chocolate is a feel-good food; it is always associated with feelings of comfort and love. It is sweet and melts deliciously in the mouth. It induces the production of endorphins in the body, endorphins being hormones that reduce the feelings of pain in the body and makes the body feel pleasure in its stead. Chocolates are often given to children as rewards for good behavior. A lover (or a potential lover) gives a woman a box of chocolates to show his affection.

Given that chocolates do contain sugar and calories that dieting women find highly undesirable, should we women fear chocolate? The answer to this is that they should not. Eating chocolate is not something to be feared or avoided as if ones life depends on not seeing a piece of that brown, melt-in-the-mouth sweet. Chocolate is not known to be physiologically addictive. Whatever cravings chocolate induces in a woman is all in her mind. In fact, chocolate can be beneficial, if eaten in the correct manner.

So, how should we women eat and enjoy chocolate without feeling even an iota of fear or guilt? Simply put, chocolate should be eaten in small amounts, and the experience of eating chocolate should be savored.

Chocolate should be eaten as a treat rather than a snack. If one is feeling hungry, she should eat a proper meal or a snack that is not loaded on calories. Eating chocolate when one is hungry only leads to bingeing. Besides, research has proven that consuming chocolate when one is not hungry lessens the craving for it.

Another thing about eating chocolate is that it should be eaten slowly. Chocolate should be eaten for the pure pleasure of it, so it should be savored. Feeling guilty about eating chocolate will only make the person eat it faster and consume more. One cannot taste chocolate, or anything for that matter, if it is eaten far too quickly, and one will only end up wanting more.

A third thing to remember about eating chocolate is that less is more. One will get more pleasure out of eating a small piece of dark chocolate than from a cookie laden with chocolate chips, simply because there is more chocolate in a small bar than in a cookie. If you are going to take in calories from chocolate, there is no point to adding more to your calorie count by eating something else with the chocolate.

Lastly, chocolates should be kept in a place that is not easily accessible so one would not give in to a sudden binge if the cravings hit her. It should be stored where it is not always in ones line of sight.

Chocolates are not to be feared. They are comfort foods and should be considered as a treat and a reward to ones self. Chocolates are good.

What are makeup Foundations?

What are Foundations?

Facial makeup or foundations are pigmented products intended for application on the face and the neck. They colour the skin evenly and hide facial imperfections such as scars, depressions and dark and light coloured areas.

Foundations come in several forms like emulsions, creams, liquids, gels, cakes and powders - these different forms contain the same basic ingredients, but differ in texture and finish, because the components are present in different proportions.

The basic formulation of the foundation is based on colouring agents (usually derived from iron oxide or titanium oxide), a wax (which gives an even flow and smooth finish), some form of cellulose (to make the foundation thick and adherent), an emulsifier, preservatives, and usually a perfume.

Effects created by different foundations. Which foundation should you select?

Several forms of foundations are available. You must choose your foundation correctly and for this you need to know the effect of each of the forms.

Emulsions: These are packaged in tubes and are formulated for a variety of skin types for dry skins, oily skins and normal skins. They give less luster than cream or liquid foundations, but cover blemishes very well.

Creams: These are packaged in jars. As they contain a high proportion of oils, they are particularly suitable for dry skins. These also provide a heavy cover, but give a glossy finish.

Liquids: These are packaged in bottles and can be formulated for all skin types - so look at the label before you purchase! Along with the cake variety, they are the commonest type of foundation used. They give a light shine cover but are too light to cover any blemishes and scars.

Gels: These are packaged in squeeze tubes. They give a light, natural look and are the variety you should use if you have a blemish free normal skin.

Cakes or Sticks: These are the solid forms of foundation. Since they have a drying effect, use them on an oily skin. They give a dense matt cover and are good for covering blemishes and scars. Solid forms are popular for photographic and stage work but are too heavy for everyday use.

Powders: The original full coverage face powders have now given way to transparent powders; these transparent powders control shine and provide oil-blotting. They are used after foundations to give a matt finish. Cake or compact powders are more heavily formulated; as they contain a certain amount of foundation, these are not the best choice for the initial powdering over foundation because they may rub the foundation off and also cause an unattractive colour build-up. They are best used for touching up during the day, when they help to reinforce coverage.

Are Foundations bad for your Complexion?

The answer is definitely no. As a matter of fact, they are really good for the skin: they act as a barrier for the skin, protecting it against dirt, wind and environmental pollutants; they also act as sun screens guarding the skin against the ill-effects of the sun. Since foundations also contain moisturizing agents, they balance the moisture levels of the skin. At the same time, they also act as an all-day blotting agent controlling the facial oiliness. Some foundations may even contain medication to dry up pimples.

Psychologically, the effects of foundation are dramatic too! They help in improving your
looks: they even out tones, improve skin colour and texture, and disguise blemishes - all true mood boosters, working wonders for your confidence.

The idea, that foundation may be harmful for the skin is based on the wrong notion that they block the skin pores (where sweat glands and sebaceous glands open); as a result it is thought that the skin cannot breathe and sweat. This concept is absolutely ridiculous, because makeup is not airtight, so it definitely can not close the skin pores and so does not affect the functioning of the skin glands at all.

However, if you use a foundation which does not suit your skin type, you might develop problems: for instance, if you have an oily skin and you use a foundation formulated for dry skin (containing more oil), you could develop pimples. This can easily be cured by changing the foundation. Rarely, however, you may develop an allergy to the foundation, but if you develop, you should either stop using foundation or change over to the some what safer hypo-allergic products.

Black heads Worries

Are you afraid of emerging bleak heads on your face? If yes then we will tell you some of the fruit full tips through which you can easily get rid of them.

It’s so common and usual to have black heads on face but it has no such proper treatment to remove them except the treatment of care. Your little effort and attention can help you to have a neat and clean face, free from black heads.

Due to the excretion of some hormones, some fatty material appears on the surface of our face. The secretion of oil in excess made the place hard; after some time with the extra addition of dust and pollution that portion of your skin or your skin pores becomes black head. Through the process of becoming hard the skin pores also become darker and that why they called as bleak heads.

What we will recommend you as first hand precaution is the ‘cleansing’. This is one of the best ways of keeping your skin free from dirt. As long your face remains neat and clean, it will also remain free from pimples, black heads and stuff like that etc; except if you have some internal problem.

Another tip is to wash your face so many times in a day, not only with some normal soap but with some standard mild soap or face wash. It will definitely help you to remove the dirt and extra oil storage on the surface of the face skin. It’s good to do cleansing after washing your face gently as it will remove the hard & dry hormonal secretion from your skin pores.

After that apply toner to make your skin fresh and shine.

10 Summer Beauty Tips

Hot temperatures and on-the-go kids can make it tough to stay stylish in summer. That’s why you’ll love these ten fast, mom-focused beauty and hair tips, which make looking good a breeze! Go ahead, customize them to enhance your personal assets and natural beauty. Then sit back and enjoy a beautiful summer.

1.Try a slick ponytail to accentuate your facial features. A deep-side part looks fresh and modern (and is easy to do when the kids are tugging at your arm!). To prevent flyaways, spritz with hairspray. Don’t forget an easy-to-blend foundation with SPF to even out your skin tone and keep you looking polished.

2.Get a glow on by exfoliating. Keep a washcloth or buff pad at-the-ready for everyday use. If you don’t have an exfoliant, make your own by moistening ½ cup of sugar with olive or sunflower oil. Use small circles to slough away dead cells and reveal new layers of skin. Or, try a mask of four to six aspirin crushed into a paste with water. Let dry, rinse and reveal the new you!

3.Beat the heat with a French braid that keeps your hair off your neck. Make the braid, leaving your bangs free. For a fun playground-to-party look, pull out small to medium chunky pieces from the braid and spray them with gel or hairspray and scrunch. Sweep bangs to the side and slip on a thin headband or tie on a piece of ribbon.

4.Protect your skin with a sunscreen with minimum 15 SPF. If you burn using SPF 15, go higher. Look for a UVA and UVB blocking ingredient such as Zinc oxide, Titanium dioxide, Parsol 1789 or Helioplex. Apply a shot-glass worth of sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before going out, being sure to cover your chest, hands and ears. Don’t forget a lip balm with SPF, too!

5.The messy bun hat ruled the fashion runways this season is perfect for on-the-go moms! To get the look, apply a shine serum to towel-dried hair. Work it through to enhance natural texture. Next, use your fingers to rake hair back at mid-height or at the nape of the neck. Twist into a knot and secure with bobby pins. Don’t worry about making it too neat – random ends sticking out are what make this style look relaxed.

6.Stay on-trend with pink lipstick. Pick a shade that complements your skin tone. Lighter pinks work on women with pink or cool undertones, and warmer pinks look best on skin with yellow undertones. A creamy lipstick formula will last longer than gloss.

7.For a mom manicure on the fly, remove chipped polish and moisturize your hands rubbing olive oil on your cuticles before pushing them back. File your nails short and practical. Then whip on a light polish that won’t show chips as much as a dark shade.

8.Try this trendy, mom-friendly twist on a basic bun: Make two side-by-side ponytails at the back of your head. Then wrap each tail around the other’s base (hiding the elastics) to create a figure-eight bun. Secure to your head with hairpins and a few spritzes of hairspray.

9.Before you polish your toenails, pamper yourself with an Epson-salt and scented oil foot soak for 10 minutes. (Read a magazine while you wait!) Then remove dry skin from legs and feet with a homemade mixture of olive oil and kosher salt or raw sugar. Rub in an upward motion for two to three minutes, then rinse, moisturize and polish!

10.or natural-looking waves, massage volumizing mousse through freshly washed hair. Weave locks into a thick braid and allow hair to dry. When dried, gently finger comb to loosen into waves. If you have to time to blow dry, apply gel and then slowly blow dry while scrunching hair.

Make a greater effort to take good care of your nails, and you will be thrilled with the way they complement your wardrobe and your own personal style. Consider the following tips as a way to enhance the health and quality of your nails.

Great, Healthy Nails

Apply speed-dry nail polish when time is of the essence.

Drink lots of water. Keep your body hydrated everyday to maintain healthy nails.

Fortify your diet with FDA approved vitamins or supplements. Your fingernails count on you to be responsible with your health and your diet. Unless instructed otherwise by your physician, increase your daily doses of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, folic acid, protein, Vitamin B12, and zinc.

Touch up your manicure on a daily basis to prevent chips and cracks.

Your nails depend on you to maintain a healthy diet. Take in lots.

Nail polish tips:

Finish with a clear topcoat to add gloss and sheen.

Start with a base coat to strengthen and protect the nails.

Store nail polish in the refrigerator to maintain a smooth consistency.

Try not to store nail polish in a room that becomes cold. The nail polish bottles may break without warning, leaving you with a big mess.

To avoid breaking nails or brittle nails:

Avoid using your nails as tools. This means no picking, scratching, digging, pinching, etc. You know who you are!

Increase the amount of calcium in your diet.

Use products containing alcohol, especially perfumed lotions, sparingly. These items can make nails prone to breaking.

Wear rubber gloves when you do chores that involve continual submersion in water or contact with harsh detergents or chemicals.

Self Renewal

Self Renewal from Head to Toe

Are stressful days leaving you dragging? Invigorate your senses and relax your entire body for instant renewal that will keep you going the whole week through. Renewal of mind, body and soul can be achieved more easily than you think just set aside some time for yourself and slip away into a carefree moment.

Renewal of Hair and Scalp
With extreme temperatures, excessive blow-drying and chemical processing, hair and scalp may suffer damages that are not immediately apparent to the naked eye. After time, dry, peeling scalp, split ends and brittle hair may result. To remedy these undesirable traits, revamp your daily maintenance routine.

Change products to a moisture-rich shampoo formula and a deep conditioning treatment. Something like St. Ives Hair Repair Intensive Conditioner will generally provide immediate results in the texture of your tresses and the way your scalp feels.

While shampooing, gently use your fingernails on your scalp as the suds course through your hair. In a light scratching motion, refresh your scalp and rinse away any dry particles. For a truly invigorating experience, apply a deep conditioning treatment with a tingling effect. Before rinsing, allow product to saturate hair and scalp for two minutes or as directed.

If at all possible, avoid over-drying hair with a blow dryer. By allowing hair to dry naturally, strands are kept intact longer, leaving them soft, shiny and healthy-looking.

Renewal of Eyes
For tired, overworked eyes, get as cool as a cucumber by placing a cold slice on each eye. If no cucumbers are to be found, substitute a cold, damp washcloth, wrung out and placed over both eyes. Lay back and relax for a few moments while your eyes absorb the cooling effects. To best relieve bloodshot eyes, though, make an early appointment with your bed!

Renewal of Skin
First, a Facial

To reinvigorate your skin and your body altogether, choose a gentle exfoliant to restore a healthy glow to your visage. (I recommend St. Ives Apricot Scrub.) Using your selected product, gently buff away any rough spots and dry skin cells in seconds. Remembering to repeat this process regularly will leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and perfect.

For further rejuvenation, a facial mud mask applied at least once a week will dry out problem areas on your skin, relax facial muscles and relieve tension lines as the mask hardens in minutes. Allow the mask to dry as you relax while reading a book or magazine, watching part of a television program or writing out your shopping list.

The Whole Body Experience
Macrobiotic Counselor Patrick Riley suggests doing a daily body rub, which involves dipping a white washcloth in warm water and vigorously rubbing every square inch of ones body. He explains that this procedure would leave the skin feeling fresh and renewed, while also freeing the mind. (Note: this is a great exfoliating technique as well.)

Additionally, scented moisturizing lotions for dry elbows, knees and legs will help to keep skin soft and smooth, moisturized and healthy.

Renewal of Feet
Pedicures operate as an excellent stress-buster and they work very well as a means of refreshing and reinvigorating the body. If an all-out pedicure takes too much time, compromise with some aromatherapy foot lotion and a self-administered foot massage before heading off to bed. Relaxation and rejuvenation will send you straight to dreamland.

You, in Entirety
For your entire body, enjoy a sensuous hot bubble bath with suds of your favorite scent or bath oil beads, bath salts, fizzers or other relaxing bathing products. Fill the tub with warm water - not scalding but not lukewarm. Allow yourself at least 20 minutes to a half hour to enjoy serenity and the soothing suds and waters around you. After a long day in the office, a sporting event or intense workout, a calming bubble bath will wash your cares away.

To enhance the experience:

* Burn an aromatherapy candle on your countertop, away from any potential fire hazards.
* Immerse yourself in a good book or magazine.
* Play soft and tranquil music in the background.
* Treat yourself to a plate of healthy snacks - frozen grapes, vegetable sticks, applesauce, pudding or yogurt.
* Close your eyes and daydream, but be careful not to fall asleep.
* Wrap yourself in a fluffy towel at the conclusion of your bath.
Another body renewing trick makes things about as simple as they get exercise!
Mild exercises such as crunches, sit-ups, push-ups and maybe even an early morning run will help your overall spirit and frame of mind by awakening your muscles and reminding your body how great it feels to stay active.

By combining all of these steps or concentrating on only a few, your body should be well on its way to a more relaxed and recharged state. By adding some relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation, your stress load should diminish, leaving you with more energy for those things that are most important to you.

Curly Hair

Hairstyles for Curly Hair

Curls, tussles, waves, twists are back bigger than ever! Trend setting Celebrities like Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, and Alicia Keys at the Grammy wore sexy curls. Even Justin Timberlake did - but he can't help it.

It's a matter of convenience, less time doing your hair and more time having fun. Girls just want to have fun!

Prepare and get those curls bouncing, they're in!
For a loose sexy style curl scrunch your hair using a medium-to-strong gel. If you mix a little silk serum to soften, that's fine. Flip your head entirely over when scrunching. Try to bunch the hair in handfuls and keep the heat flowing between your fingers through your hair. After it's dry let it stay and cool for a minute, then flip it up.

To create loose curls, use a soft shine wax on the ends, if you want it to hold go in and curl with your finger any piece that did not curl so well, use some hairspray and Voila! If you want just a little wave use the soft shine wax from root to end.

If you want moving bouncing curls, invest in some hot rollers sold at Wal-Mart. Set your hair, it should take 10 minutes to heat and curl. Take the rollers out and before putting any product on it piece out the curls one by one. If you want a tighter curl, spray a little hairspray before wrapping the the hair on the roller. Spray the hairspray on your hair, not the roller itself. The harder the spray, the firmer it holds.

If you already have natural curly or wavy hair, lucky you; just remember to visit your stylist and get some long layers to revamp your curl. The same products apply in your case. Ask your Salon for more details and see more

Pamper Your Skin at the Spa

Smooth, clear and flawless skin is an indication of good health, not just of beauty. Whatever lifestyle choices we make, or whatever forms of abuse we make our bodies go through, such as drinking, bingeing and smoking, getting stressed out lots of times, or lack of exercise and sleep, show easily enough on our skin. It is easy to tell if a person is not of good health: she always looks wan and sallow, her skin dry and flaking, and most likely sporting dark circles under the eyes. A person who is at the peak of health has smooth and soft skin that is alit with a rosy glow.

Many women go to day spas to pamper their skin and make them look nice and healthy. Spas have special treatments that can rejuvenate the skin, take the toxins out of the body, and make the skin look younger and looking fresh.

If you go to a spa to get your skin pampered, what treatments should you go for and what should you expect? Listed below are basic treatments you can find in a spa:

Facials.A facial is a way of deep cleansing the skin, removing the dirt, the impurities and the blackheads from the face. After a facial the skin of your face should feel clean, soft and hydrated.

Facial mask. The idea of the facial mask is to make your skin feel tighter, smoother and hydrated. It is also supposed to exfoliate your skin and remove the dirt and dead skin cells from it, as well as to treat acne. Facial masks are done by putting some substance evenly on your skin and letting it dry on the skin before washing it off. Facial masks are typically made of algae, seaweed and mud, but it can also be made of other materials.

Body scrub.A body scrub exfoliates and removes the dead skin cells from the body using different types of oils and salts. This hydrates and makes the skin of the body soft and smooth.

Body mask.Body masks are also used for exfoliating and for removing dead skin cells from the body. It works exactly the same way as the facial mask.

Body wrap.In a body wrap treatment, certain creams, liquids or a special mud is applied to the body. The body is then wrapped tightly and allowed to stay so for a period of time. A body wrap treatment is supposed to detoxicate the body, or maybe help the body shed off a few pounds.

Day spas also offer different kinds of massages to relax the body, to relieve it from stress and detoxicate it. Having healthy, glowing skin, after all, is an inside job. If you are feeling pain or stressed out, it is best to relieve these aches and pains through massage so the skin would look healthy and beautiful.

Visit a day spa and pamper your skin every once in a while. It will do your skin and your health a world of good.

Quick and Refreshing Fixes for Your Hair

Have you ever had one of those ?perfect hair days? where your hair looks fabulous just before you?re about to hop in the shower? Knowing full well that you?d be generously lucky for your hair to look half as nice, you grab that quick shower, even though you just washed your hair this morning/last night.

You needn?t wash your hair repeatedly to ensure remarkable results, so why not skip a shampoo or two? Remember, the more you wash your hair and the more styling products you apply, the greater the amount of buildup that adheres to your silky strands.

Every once in a while, forego the routine washing by twisting your hair up into a towel or piling it into a shower cap before you step into the shower. To alleviate your concerns of how your hair will smell, look and feel without shampooing it just this once, try these tips to keep your hair vibrant and refreshed.

Freshen Up
You've got your perfume and your body spray, so why not something sweet and tantalizing for your tresses? A number of well-known companies offer deliciously delightful fragrances for hair, like Clairol?s Herbal Essences Style Refreshing Mist. It comes in a compact pump spray bottle with flirty floral fragrances that are sure to keep you feeling great about your hair.

Another option ? if you simply must wash your hair every time you shower, so be it. Shampoo and condition your hair, but do without the blow dryer during the warmer months. Twist your hair up and secure it to your head with a hairpin or some bobby pins. Try a sexy style with some little claw clips or pull your hair back into a classic braid.

De-Frizz and Smooth Out
So the end of the day is nearing and you've still got your dinner date in less than an hour. You may not have time to shower and get prettied up all over again, but you can at least apply some frizz-fighting gel or styling product to smooth out your hair.

If you can?t possibly dream of going on a date without a shower to freshen up, take the fastest shower of your life and get moving! Apply a leave-in conditioner or other anti-frizz styling solution to your hair and follow the instructions for drying your hair, or allow it to dry naturally if you have time.

Preserve
While you may not have all the time in the world to get ready, it doesn?t hurt to catch a glimpse of yourself once in a while to be sure your hair is behaving and your makeup hasn?t smudged. Be careful not to whip out your compact in front of your date and surely avoid the obvious gawk at your reflection on a tinted car window as you walk by.

Excuse yourself for a brief trip to the ladies room, and failing all else, use a tiny bit of water or a small dab of hand cream to assuage any hair catastrophes.

Correcting Popular Makeup Myths

Some makeup artists say that you shouldn’t be afraid to touch your makeup. The truth is, you should be very careful about touching it. After you’ve taken time to smoothly apply your foundation and eyeshadows, there’s no reason to use your fingers unless it’s absolutely necessary. Touching your face during the day will rub off all your nicely applied makeup.

Don’t spray water or toner on makeup to set or freshen it up. It doesn’t work. A mist of water can streak foundation, powder, and mascara.

Don’t change every part of your makeup with every season. If you want to go softer during the spring and summer, that’s fine, but it isn’t an absolute must.

Don’t use makeup to correct the shape of anything on your face, especially the lips. Close up and in person you can tell when lipstick has been applied beyond or inside the natural lip line. If you overcontour, you will look like you have brown stripes all over your face.

Don’t use foundation or color correctors to change the color of your skin. Foundation must match the underlying skin tone exactly. If you have yellow or olive skin there’s nothing you can do to change it. Even if it did look good on your face, any correction would look strange next to your neck and along the hairline.

To keep pencil eyeliner in place, many makeup artists recommend going over it with a matching powder eyeshadow. That works, but why do two steps when only one is needed? Forget the pencil and just use a brush to apply your eyeshadow (mixed with water if necessary) to begin with.

Glowing skin does look nice, but mostly in pictures. In real life, the same skin looks like it is covered with glitter. That isn’t necessarily bad, but any wrinkles will be illuminated. It can be an option for an evening out, but that’s about it.

No single set of colors is right for all skin or hair colors. Just because you have red hair and fair skin doesn’t mean you have to wear corals and avoid blue-red lipstick. Honestly, most women can wear just about any color they want to, as long as they pay attention to color intensity and application and adjust the details accordingly.

How to Cover Flaws with Makeup?

Makeup has evolved beyond the artistic region and stepped into the regular world, with the personal needs of an individual dictating its application in a practiced fashion for covering flaws with makeup. When expertly applied, with near professional results, the effect of covering flaws with makeup can be absolutely stunning and the flaws not apparent to even the most scrutinizing eye. This is what many with skin disorders, burn and injury marks, uneven skin tone and severe pigmentation are looking for since the basis for good makeup is achieving an even, smooth and natural skin tone.

Necessity of Covering Flaws with Makeup
Top cosmetic dermatologists opine that every woman consulting for covering flaws with makeup has an essential human need to feel confident in her skin and with the right application of appropriate cosmetics, this is possible for daywear and evening glamour. Covering flaws with make up may even be a necessity for some women (or men) and the key is to pick products that will not aggravate existing dermatological conditions.
Picking the Right Product
* For individuals who need to cover flaws with makeup, it is of utmost importance to pick the right products and necessary tools of makeup application. This usually includes investing in a set of soft makeup brushes for eye shadow application; an eyeliner, blush and powder makeup application is easier and tends to be gentler on the skin as compared to other forms. It is also easier to remove powder makeup.
* Persons with skin flaws need to be extra cautious that the makeup applicators they use are restricted only to their personal use and restricted to the region they are intended for. Doing this minimizes the spread of infection, if there is a chance of it – like in the case of acne.
* Make up brushes need to cleaned regularly with either a gentle shampoo or special brush cleanser. Using disposable applicators whenever possible is a smart way of combating the spread of acne/skin infections.
* Persons suffering from acne need to understand that the right cosmetics are very crucial in camouflaging the skin problem and not adding to it. Such persons can opt for products that are marked as safe for skin with acne, classified as non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic.
* Oil based foundation and concealer are best for persons wanting to cover up burn marks or excessive facial hair as these are longest lasting and provide most solid coverage. However, acne patients should avoid these and favor oil-free or water-based products since these are less likely to occlude follicles and thereby cause/aggravate acne.
* To manage and reduce oil or extra-shine effect, the light dusting of a loose transparent facial powder that absorbs oil can either be rubbed in or patted on over oil-free liquid or cream foundation/concealer for prolonged wear.
* A parting tip: for adding color and minimizing irritation, mix foundation, eye shadow or blush with a creamy moisturizer and remove with gentle cleanser like petrolatum.

Get Rid Of Pimples

CLEAN! Get Glowing!
Wash your face with a gentle, oil- and fragrance-free cleanser; preferably a nondetergent one labeled pH balanced.
If you have oily skin all over your face, use a cleanser that contains benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid.
Don't scrub - irritated skin (Evangeline Lilly) swells around the pores, which can cause breakouts.
Skip toner unless your face is very oily, otherwise it might dry out the skin.

TREAT!
Apply a topical acne treatment containing benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid over your entire face, not just where blemishes have already erupted.
At night, use a drying spot-treatment product and dab oil-free moisturizer on dry areas.
In the morning, apply an oil-free sunscreen gel over the entire face.

CONCEAL!
Use a small makeup brush to dab concealer or cream foundation Evangeline Lilly (in the exact same shade as your skin) directly onto the blemish. Use a fingertip to wipe away excess concealer around the blemish and, if necessary, apply another coat of concealer.
If the makeup becomes cakey, carefully wipe it off and start over. gently brush powder (in the exact same shade as your skin) on top of the concealer.

Tricks Of The Trade:
* If you have oily skin and feel that you need toner, apply it only on the T-zone, and rinse it off afterward (leaving it on can dry the skin turn back the clock). Use a clay mask as often as every three days to absorb excess oil.

* To stop redness and swelling in an emergency situation (job interview, wedding), ask your doctor for a cortisone injection. It calms down a pimple almost instantly.

* If you can't get to your dermatologist (or needles make you squemish), temporarily reduce redness and swelling by dabbing on a drop of drugstore cortisone cream, Preparation H, or Vasocon-A eyedrops.
